BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Department of Social Services has again taken custody of the two children living in the home of Quintin and Chantel McGrew after another reported dog attack.
DSS spokesperson Marilyn Matheus confirmed the children had been taken from the home, but would not say when.
A DSS employee filed a report with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office on Jan. 3 after noticing dog bites on one of the children's faces. According to the report, the incident happened at the McGrews' home on Jennifer Drive in Ladson.
Authorities are investigating the incident and no charges have been filed as of yet. Investigators say the child did not have to get medical attention for the bite.
Last April, the McGrews' youngest child, Aiden, was killed after being mauled by a dog inside the family's Ridgeville home while Quintin McGrew was asleep in another room.
McGrew said he left the toddler asleep in a swing when he went to take a nap. Chantel McGrew arrived home a short time later to find a horrific scene.
Aiden was rushed to the hospital where he died.
Quintin McGrew was charged with unlawful conduct towards a child, and is still awaiting trial.
This is the third time the McGrew children have been taken into state custody.
