Goose Creek LB Jalen Stevens committed to the University of Connecticut on Friday choosing the Huskies over North Carolina and Southern Miss among others.
Stevens was one of the anchors of the Gators defense in 2012 collecting 126 tackles and 6 sacks helping lead the team to a 13-0 record.
"I feel like UConn was the best fit for me" Stevens said. "I'll be able to get my degree and have a chance to go pro."
Location was also a big selling point for Stevens. He said his father lives about 2 hours away from the Storrs, CT campus.
Stevens is the latest member of the Goose Creek team to commit to a Division 1 program. WR Tramel Terry is going to Georgia, DE Gerald Turner to South Carolina and DT Mike Myers has committed to East Carolina.
