MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) -

A Mt. Pleasant man is facing child porn charges after a separate drug investigation led detectives to his Park West home, authorities say.

Major Jim Brady with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office said investigators arrested 39-year-old James Boyd Gentry, of Queensgate Way, on Monday and charged him with two counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and simple possession of marijuana.

Brady said detectives acquired a search warrant to Gentry's home after his phone was turned over to investigators while they were working a separate drug case. That phone was determined to belong to Gentry and contained messages from Gentry referencing children engaged in sexual activities, Brady said.

Brady said investigators then seized several other phones and computers from Gentry's residence.

They are currently under investigation, but Brady said two CDs seized from the residence contained images of children engaged in sexual activities, which is why he is already facing charges.

A quantity of marijuana was also located in the search

More charges are pending.

Brady says investigators are working with the FBI to determine if any identification of the victims can be obtained, however, that may prove difficult as the victim's faces are not shown in the photos. Additionally, the photos may be downloads or files transferred via computer.

Gentry is scheduled to appear in bond court at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
