CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators say they have arrested a Charleston County Auditor's Office employee accused of using his DMV access to track down a motorist in connection to a road rage incident.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office arrested 69-year-old Ernest Theodore Cammer Tuesday morning and charged him with use of confidential information by a public employee.
The sheriff's office says the arrest is in connection to an incident involving Cammer and another motorist on Oct. 3, where an argument took place between the two.
Authorities say Cammer took down the motorist's vehicle license plate information and used his access at the auditor's office to find the motorist through records from the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.
An incident report states Cammer then wrote a letter referencing the "road rage" incident and mailed it to the motorist.
