JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the Charleston Police Department are investigating a wreck on James Island where a stolen Jeep crashed into a ditch and a utility pole early Wednesday morning.
Around 12:04 a.m., an officer responded to a crash at the intersection of Folly Road and Battery Island Drive.
Police say a Jeep Cherokee had crashed into a ditch and a utility pole. The officer said that there was no one located in the vehicle.
Half an hour later, investigators say the owner contacted police and told them that someone had stolen his Jeep some time in the past three hours.
Authorities are continuing the investigation.
