NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A North Charleston man was arrested by police Wednesday after officers say he contributed to injuring his child while stealing diapers and wipes from a CVS drugstore.

Cozzack Green, 40, has been charged with property crime enhancement (shoplifting) and unlawful conduct towards a child.

According to an incident report, North Charleston police were called to MUSC after a child was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning with serious cuts to her face and body.

Hospital staff says Green's sister brought the child to the hospital, and told staff she may have been hurt during the commission of a crime.

Police say they located Green, who confessed to stealing diapers and wipes from a CVS drugstore located at 1506 E. Montague Ave. around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning, and that his child was injured while he was running away.

Green was taken to the Charleston County Detention Center and is awaiting a bond hearing.
