The South Carolina Stingrays (20-21-1-3) defeated the Florida Everblades (20-14-3-4) 4-2 on Mascot Mania and Kid's Day at the North Charleston Coliseum Sunday afternoon.
Former Stingrays forward Matthew Pistilli put the Everblades on the board first with a power-play tally at 11:23 of the opening period tapping a loose puck past the blocker of goaltender Jeff Jakaitis (W, 32 saves on 34 shots). The Stingrays knotted up the game on the man advantage at 16:20 when forward Phil Mangan deflected a shot from defenseman Kevin Quick over the right pad of Everblades netminder Pat Nagle (L, 27 saves on 30 shots). Defenseman Scooter Vaughan added the second assist.
Forward Chris Langkow gave the Stingrays the lead on the power play at 6:50 of the second period with help from defenseman Luka Vidmar and forward Hunter Bishop. Forward Ryan Hayes made it 3-1 while up a man at 12:52. Mangan and Jakaitis picked up assists.
Bishop added an empty-net goal at 18:30 of the final period from Langkow and forward Patrick Gaul. Everblades defenseman Charles Landry completed the game scoring with his third goal of the season at 19:12. The Stingrays ended the contest 3-for-4 on the power play while the Everblades went 1-for-4.
