Lowcountry Tech opens its doors

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The inaugural year of classes begins Tuesday for students at Lowcountry Tech.

The school is located along King Street downtown, in the newly-remodeled Rivers Education Center.

That building also houses the Charter School for Math and Science.

Doors will open today for 150 students, currently in grades 8-11.

The classrooms are specially made for vocational programs like learning green technology and training on hi-tech computer software.

The school's curriculum will undergo a state review in 2014.
