Firefighter hurt in McClellanville blaze released from hospital

MCCLELLANVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Officials say an Awendaw firefighter who was injured Thursday while battling a blaze in McClellanville has been released from the hospital and is in good condition.

Charleston County Government spokesperson Jennie Flinn said the firefighter, who has been with the Awendaw District Fire Department for four years, suffered non-life-threatening injuries while fighting a house fire on Society Road Thursday.

The firefighter was released Friday afternoon from the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Ga.

Officials say the firefighter was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina, and was later transported to the burn center in Georgia as a precautionary measure and for observation.
