LADSON, SC (WCSC) -

North Charleston arrested two men Thursday night who were caught attempting to steal $11,000 worth of building materials from a construction site.

According to an incident report, a security guard for Spencer Creek subdivision noticed a gold Expedition parked behind a house located on Pimmit Place that is undergoing construction around 10 p.m. Thursday night. A trailer was attached to the vehicle.

The guard told police he saw the suspect, later identified as 46-year-old Dwayne Elias Bryan, walking towards the Expedition carrying two boards across his shoulders.

Police say the guard questioned Bryan, and ordered him to the ground where he was then detained.

When officers asked Bryan for his name, police say he told them his name was Atwain Jamison and provided officers with a fake birthday. His identity was later discovered after checking his South Carolina identification card.

Officers say Bryan's trailer was loaded with $10,000 of stolen lumber, along with seven rolls of roofing paper valued at $1,000 packed inside the vehicle. Police say they also found a marijuana pipe and marijuana in the car, and a crack pipe on Bryan.

Bryan was charged with grand larceny, simple possession of marijuana, and providing false information to police.

Police say they spotted a second suspect, 31-year-old Percy Jones Jr., near the scene while patrolling the area. Jones was arrested charged with grand larceny.
