CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Traffic on Interstate 26 in the area of the Aviation Avenue exit is back to normal after a dump truck caught on fire causing delays for Lowcountry motorists Friday evening.

The truck was parked on the shoulder of the westbound lanes of I-26 at Aviation Avenue, which is mile marker 211.

The scene was causing delays at the interchange and also affected traffic on Interstate 526.

The fire was fully extinguished by 3:50 p.m.  The two far-right lanes were closed while firefighters tended to the scene.

It is unclear what caused the dump truck to catch fire.
