NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

There's a new top cop in North Charleston. Eddie Driggers was officially sworn in as the city's new police chief Monday morning.

He was hand picked for the job by Mayor Keith Summey.

Driggers has more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement.

He replaces Chief Jon Zumalt who's leaving to care for his elderly mother in Kansas. His last day with the police department is set for Thursday.
