A Chihuahua has died and a home is destroyed after an early morning fire in Moncks Corner.
Firefighters got the call around 5:00 a.m. Tuesday for reports of smoke coming from a mobile home near the intersection of Old Highway 52 and Gaillard Rd.
Investigators believe the fire may have started around the hot water heater.
The homeowner and another person, along with 8 Chihuahuas, were in the home at the time. Seven of the Chihuahuas survived.
The Red Cross was called out to help the homeowner.
The Whitesville Fire Department and the Moncks Corner Rural Fire Department responded to the fire.
