Report: Man threatens to kill family following sexual abuse allegation

JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office has arrested a 46-year-old Johns Island man accused of threatening to kill his family following accusations that he sexually assaulted a minor.

Deputies arrested Melvin Octavise Walker Jr. Monday afternoon and charged him with criminal domestic violence, first-degree criminal sexual conduct and lewd act on a minor.

Last Thursday, deputies were contacted by the Department of Social Services regarding allegations of physical abuse involving Walker and a juvenile.

During the course of the investigation, the victim said that the sexual abuse had happened on at least two occasions.

On Sunday, the suspect's wife reported that Walker, who had learned of the sexual abuse investigation, threatened her saying, "If I go to jail, I will get out on bond, then I will kill the kids, I will kill you and then myself."

Walker was locked up at the Al Cannon Detention Center and is scheduled to have a bond hearing Tuesday night.
