CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Following three accidents, including two fatalities, within 24 hours on I-526, drivers may be on guard this week.
But safety officials say safe driving should be on the top of you mind all the time.
While driving safely seems intuitive, some driving instructors say it's something you have to actively practice every time you sit down behind the wheel.
Instructor Karen Brown with Cruise Control Driving School says it's important to always gauge your distance from other cars and constantly check your surroundings.
And while monitoring your own driving, she says you must watch other drivers. She says for those who are safe on the roads, there's not too much you can do about others.
"There's nothing you can do about other careless drivers, just be on the lookout trying to anticipate stuff that could happen ahead of time. That way your reaction time is a lot better," Brown said.
