ORANGEBURG, SC (WCSC) - Investigators say they have arrested an Orangeburg man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 20-year-old victim.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday night that 20-year-old Dietrich Tremayne Funchess was in custody.
According to Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, between 2:45 a.m. and 3:35 a.m. on Saturday, the victim was walking in the area of Goff and Coleman streets when a vehicle pulled up.
Authorities say the driver, Funchess, asked the victim if they needed a ride.
When the victim said no, investigators say Funchess took out a handgun and the victim got into the vehicle.
"Based on our investigation and what physical and emotional pain he caused the victim in less than an hour, we consider Funchess to be an extremely dangerous individual," Ravenell said.
