NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

North Charleston police are investigating an attempted robbery which happened at a Huddle House late Wednesday.

According to an incident report, the attempted robbery happened at the restaurant at 4620 Dorchester Road, just before midnight.

A waitress at the diner told police a man had been sitting at the bar drinking water for about 45 minutes, when he got up, walked behind the counter, and told her to open the cash register.

The waitress said she refused, and the suspect asked her to open it again.  When the waitress refused a second time, the suspect ran out and headed towards the back of the building.

Police said they canvassed the area with a K9 unit but weather conditions helped mask any scent.

The suspect was described as a black male appearing to be in his mid-twenties, standing about 6' tall and weighing about 240 pounds.  He had brown hair and brown eyes, according to the police report.

No information on what the suspect was wearing was provided.

If you have any information on this incident, call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
