CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Rescue agencies pulled a sailboat which became stuck in pluff mud near City Marina Thursday afternoon.
According to Charleston Fire Department Fire Marshal Mike Julazadeh, rescue crews had a difficult time reaching the bogged down sailboat due to shallow conditions.
Julazadeh said the boater attempted to exit the boat but also became stuck in the mud. He has since been removed from the water.
Traffic on Lockwood moved slowly during the spectacle as the road has been closed to only one lane due to emergency vehicles.
Members from the Charleston Fire Department, Coast Guard, and Charleston County Rescue all worked on the rescue effort.
