NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police arrested a 20-year-old man Thursday after they say he led them on a chase through North Charleston which ended when he struck two parked automobiles.

North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said the incident started shortly after 1 p.m., when officers attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle speeding near Patriot Boulevard and Maple Grove Drive.

Pryor said the man driving the car, Dameon Thompson, did not stop and instead continued onto Ashley Phosphate Road before turning onto Cross County Road.

Pryor said Thompson then struck two parked vehicles at the corner of Rosin and Purcell streets.  He jumped out of his vehicle and ran off but was caught after a brief foot chase.

He was treated by EMS for injuries sustained in the crash, Pryor added.

Thompson was charged with speeding, failure to stop for blue lights, and drug possession.
