NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Authorities issued 238 tickets on Wednesday during a speed enforcement operation on I-526.

The North Charleston Police Department began the operation at 6 a.m. and ended it at noon. Police say the most common citations given was for speeding, seatbelt violations, driver's license restrictions and non moving violations.

One arrest was made for a stolen license plate.

Last Friday, officers wrote a total of 216 citations while performing traffic enforcement activities on I-526. Police say that operation took place along I-526 eastbound lanes in the area of International Blvd. Officers were targeting speeders and reckless drivers.

According to officials, a total of 216 citations were issued, with 155 of those for speeding. Officers arrested five drivers Friday, two for outstanding warrants.

Pryor says the ongoing enforcement is not in direct response to recent accidents that have occurred in the area.
