Corey Davis

News Reporter

Professional Experience:
Live 5 News is my first TV job. I am honored to work for the station I grew up watching. Before becoming a Multimedia Journalist, I started part time as a Video Editor and was later promoted to a full-time position as a Photojournalist. Working my way up showed me it is possible to accomplish my dreams.

News Philosophy:
My goal is to expand public knowledge by creatively telling thoughtful and accurate stories. I utilize a vast number of skills while shooting, editing and writing my stories every day.

Education:
Full Sail University is where I got most of my journalism training. I pursued a master's degree in New Media Journalism and have plans to finish my education in the future. My technical training came from Trident Technical College and the University of South Carolina where I earned a bachelor's degree in Media Arts. I am also a graduate of North Charleston High School. Hometown:
Charleston, SC

Family:
My family is from Charleston, but some live as far north as New York City.  I have 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

Hobbies/interests/community involvement:
Besides being a news junkie, I also love music. I enjoy volunteering as an instructor with the Wando High School Marching Band. The talented teenagers there inspire me more than they may think. It's fulfilling to see each of them succeed year after year.

Favorite Books/Music:
Being a musician, I like just about every genre of music. I enjoy top 40 pop and usually try to go to multiple concerts a year. I like a good classical concert every now and then.

Likes Best About the Lowcountry:
When I want to relax, I always find a way to explore the city where I was born and raised. You can usually find me on Sullivan's Island at the beach. The food and weather are among the best in the world and I am proud to call Charleston my home.

Most Interesting Assignment:
I got to go 140 feet below Market Street in downtown Charleston. The city is working on a massive storm water drainage project and gave the media a tour. It was one of the coolest assignments I've been on so far.
