GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Officials with the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office say they found 26 bags of heroin and needles following a traffic stop for littering.

Investigators charged 18-year-old Seth Hummell of Murrells Inlet with possession with intent to distribute heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Wednesday, deputies on patrol in the Pawley's Island community saw a passenger in a car throw something out of a window. According to investigators, when deputies stopped the car, drug paraphernalia could be seen in plain view inside the vehicle.

Authorities say a search of the vehicle revealed several syringes. An incident report states that deputies also found 26 bags of suspected heroin and one bag of what investigators believed to be synthetic marijuana on Hummell, who was a passenger in the car.

The driver was released and the other passenger was issued a ticket for littering and released.

Hummell was locked up at the Georgetown County Detention Center.
