NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - The North Charleston Police Department said the officer injured after wrecking his car in North Charleston while responding to a call suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the accident happened at 12:17 a.m. on Friday at the intersection of Dorchester Road and Industrial Drive.
Police department spokesman Spencer Pyror said the officer was responding to a call and lost control of his cruiser.
According to the highway patrol, the police cruiser hit a pile of standing water, hydroplaned then hit a pole. Highway patrol officials said the officer had to be extracted.
The officer was taken to MUSC for treatment. He remains there Friday.
