Crews respond to vehicle fire at Tyler Walmart

Posted: Updated:
TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

A vehicle is left a total loss after it caught fire Sunday afternoon at a Tyler Walmart parking lot.

Officials tell KLTV that the car caught fire Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of the Walmart off of Highway 64 in Tyler.

Authorities say the aunt of the owner of the vehicle drove the car to the back of the Walmart to get a replacement battery for a second vehicle. When she returned to her vehicle, she saw smoke coming from the vehicle. She returned inside the Walmart to get an employee. When they both returned to the vehicle, officials say it was heavily involved in flames.

Tyler fire crews responded to the scene and extinguished the flames, but the car is a total loss. Authorities believe the fire started as the result of an electrical malfunction.

Nobody was injured during this incident.
