NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The North Charleston Police Department is on the lookout for a suspect who pulled up to a car on I-526 and shot the driver early Monday morning.

The 30-year-old victim said he was shot on I-526 near the Montague Road exit after leaving Charlie O's, a club located on Dorchester Road.

According to the victim, he was driving his mother's car on his way to an IHOP on Centre Point Drive when a gray/silver older Dodge Durango pulled up next to the victim's vehicle.

The victim said the suspect "hung out of the back passenger side window" and opened fire. Police say the victim knew he was shot and drove to Trident Hospital in North Charleston for treatment.

The victim told police he did not know who would want to shoot him and didn't know anyone with a Durango. The victim described the suspect as a black male with long dreads, wearing a white t-shirt and a dark baseball hat.

The victim is expected to recover.
