Victim knocked to the ground after robber throws brick

BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is on the lookout for five robbery suspects, one of whom is accused of throwing a brick at the victim, knocking him to the ground.

Deputies responded to the area of Simmons Cay apartments just after 7 p.m. in reference to a robbery and assault. The 29-year-old victim said he had been jumped by a group of males.

According to the victim, had and a friend were in the woods near the apartment complex when a group of five males approached them.

One of the suspects asked the victim for money. An incident report states when the victim said he didn't have any, the suspect picked up a concrete block and threw it at the victim, knocking him to the ground.

Police say the victim was then struck with a belt several times. The suspects then fled the area after taking cash from the victim.

Officers say the victim received minor injuries.
