JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -

A 28-year-old James Island man is behind bars after deputies say he pistol whipped a man several times before shooting him twice.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office charged Tim Montez Wright with attempted murder. Members of the U.S. Marshal's Task Force arrested Wright at a home on Fort Johnson on Wednesday.

On Sunday afternoon, deputies responded to the area of 1061 Greenhill Rd. in reference to shots fired at children in the area.

When deputies arrived, they found a 23-year-old man on the porch being helped by two women.

The victim said Wright started an argument, struck him in the head several times in the face and body with a gun and then started shooting. An affidavit states that Wright shot the victim twice.

The victim said Wright then took off in a Chevrolet Impala before deputies arrived.

Wright is expected to have a bond hearing Thursday at 7 p.m.
