Mike Sellers, who became just the 4th player in The Citadel's history to earn consensus All-American honors for the 2012 season is off the team and he has left the school the military college confirmed Thursday.
The Fort Dorchester alum has started 22 straight games at Center for the Bulldogs and was named the team's offensive MVP for the 2012 season.
The school has had no comment as to why Sellers left the team, but Jeff Hartsell of the Post & Courier reported on Monday that a source told him Sellers had violated the school's honor code, accused of an academic honors violation. The Citadel said Sellers resigned so it's expected he did not appeal any possible violation.
Sellers could not be reached for comment. He's expected to play football somewhere else in 2013.
