GEORGETOWN, SC (WCSC) - Georgetown County deputies have arrested two men after one of the suspects attacked a woman at her home after she left a house with the wrong cell phone.
According to a release, the incident occurred around 11 p.m. on February 13 at a home on Player Street in the McDonald Community. The victim and her cousin went to a neighbor's house, where the cousin set the victim's cell phone down.
Deputies say the two later left after picking up a cell phone they believed to be one of theirs. The phone they picked up belonged to 32-year-old Donnell Vereen.
Officials say moments after returning home, Vereen and 32-year-old Lionel Bessellieu went to the victim's home to retrieve the phone.
The report states one of the suspects asked for the victim to return the phone. When the victim turned around, Vereen rushed into the home, held the victim against the wall at gunpoint and threatened her.
Police say the suspects ran away after the victim's cousin entered the room and said she was calling the cops.
The two suspects were arrested Thursday by the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office. Vereen is charged with one count of first degree burglary, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and kidnapping. Bessellieu is charged with one count of first degree burglary and kidnapping.
Both suspects are being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center.
