Report: Man shot while driving on I-26 in N. Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The North Charleston Police Department is investigating after a motorist said he was shot at by someone in another vehicle on Interstate 26.

Around 3:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of I-26 westbound near Highway 78. A caller said someone in a vehicle was shooting at another vehicle.

Investigators then received information that a shooting victim had just arrived at Trident Hospital. The victim said he was driving on I-26 heading back to Summerville when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside started shooting at him.

While North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said Monday the suspect's vehicle was a beige-colored sedan, an incident report indicates the suspect's vehicle was black.

According to the victim, he looked over at the vehicle and heard gunshots. The victim also said another vehicle pulled up next to his vehicle when the shooting started.

A report states bullet holes were found on both front doors of the vehicle and "on the front passenger side of the hood."

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his thigh.  A passenger in the 

Officers searched the westbound lanes of I-26 and were unable to locate any evidence. Police are continuing the investigation.
