GAFFNEY, SC (WYFF) - An 11-year-old Upstate girl driving a truck led police officers and highway patrol troopers on a low-speed chase about 50 miles from her home, according to law enforcement officers.
A caregiver for the girl notified Gaffney police just before midnight that the child was missing, Gaffney police said.
Officers said they discovered the girl took a pickup truck and drove to the Charlotte area.
When a Charlotte police officer spotted the truck and attempted to pull her over, the 11-year-old refused to stop, police said.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol was called in to assist.
Troopers were finally able to stop the girl on Interstate 77 northbound near Interstate 85 in Charlotte, according to police.
The girl was taken to a nearby hospital, police said.
There was no word on her condition or if any charges will be filed.
