GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Investigators have arrested a 40-year-old bar owner accused of starting a fire at a law office on Pawleys Island.

The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office charged Matthew Donald Kelly of Pawleys Island with second-degree burglary and arson. Kelly is the owner of Lumpy's Bar and Grill on 9259 Ocean Highway.

On Jan. 13, deputies responded to the Toni Pennington Law Firm, which shares a building with Kelly's bar, for a report of a suspicious fire. Investigators say they found the front door of the law firm forced open along with other evidence supporting arson.

Authorities say during an extensive investigation it was determined Kelly was responsible for starting the fire.

Kelly was locked up at the Georgetown County Detention Center.

The sheriff's office is continuing the investigation.
