Masked man robs Summerville store clerk at knifepoint

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a masked man robbed a gas station convenience store at knifepoint early Thursday.

According to an incident report, a store clerk at the AM Flag Gas Station was stocking the beer cooler around 2:30 a.m. when a man wearing a dark jacket, jeans, and a black ski mask approached the front door.

The clerk said the man pulled out a large knife and demanded the clerk open the door, which was unlocked, or he would kill him.

After he was let inside, the suspect made the clerk open the register before taking all the cash, the report states.  The suspect also told the clerk to give him his cell phone, adding that if he called anyone, "he would kill him."

The clerk handed the suspect his Samsung cell phone, at which time the masked man fled the store on foot, according to the report.

The suspect was described as a white male appearing to be about 50 years old, standing 5'9" and weighing about 190 pounds.
