More than 100 people were pricked, weighed and tested during the Delma M. Woods and Aleta McLeod-Bryant Health and Wellness Fair on Saturday.
Dozens of health professionals and organizations from across the lowcountry provided education and screenings, free-of-charge, at the Arthur Christopher City Gymnasium. The fair was hosted by the Tri-County Black Nurses Association.
"There are a whole lot of us in the community and elsewhere who just can't afford to come out and do these things," Marchitta Frayer, City Gymnasium Manager, said.
The theme of this year's fair was "Your Health is Your Wealth." Though it's been an annual event in the past, organizers say Saturday's fair was the first one in five years.
