BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The inmate who walked out of the Berkeley County Detention Center last January pleaded guilty to several charges on Monday.
James Sanders was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to escape, not stopping for police and criminal domestic violence.
Surveillance video on Jan. 2012 showed Sanders wriggling out of his handcuffs, before walking out of an employee door in a holding room.
Authorities say he then hitched a ride and was seen on surveillance cameras inside an MUSC waiting room.
He was finally arrested in March outside a Myrtle Beach night club.
Before he escaped he was in jail on a domestic violence charge.
