CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office has charged a 49-year-old woman with felony DUI in connection to a two car accident that injured three people in Ladson.

Deputies charged Julia Smith of Summerville for the Tuesday night accident.

Around 8:12 p.m., deputies responded to the area of Lincolnville and Ladson roads for an accident involving entrapment and injuries.

According to deputies, a Chevy suburban crossed over the centerline and struck a Toyota sedan traveling in the opposite direction.

Authorities say they detected an odor of alcohol from Smith, who was the driver of the SUV. A police report states Smith was "very unsteady" on her feet.

The driver of the car was airlifted with serious injuries and the passenger was transported by EMS with non-life threatening injuries. Authorities say Smith was also sent to the hospital for possible injuries.

The area of Ladson and Lincolnville Road was shut down while authorities investigated the accident.
