CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A North Charleston man has been charged for breaking into a car parked on Cooper Street in downtown Charleston last month.

Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said officers arrested 20-year-old Donal Desmond Montez McFadden on Tuesday and charged him with breaking into a motor vehicle.

Investigators say McFadden forced down the rear-passenger window of a car and removed the stereo from the dashboard around 1 a.m. on Jan. 6.

Forensic evidence indicated McFadden was the culprit, Francis said.

McFadden is being held in the Charleston County Detention Center.
