DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -
Dorchester District School District 2 officials say an agreement has been made with the bus driver's union and Durham Bus Services.
In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, school officials say Superintendent Joy Pye has been informed that bus drivers ratified a contract with Durham Tuesday night.
"I want to thank employees and our families for all their efforts in creating contingency plans for transporting students to and from school in the event of a bus driver strike," Pye said. "We appreciate the patience, understanding, and support of parents as we all focused on the safety and welfare of our children during a difficult time."
Earlier this afternoon, a spokeswoman for Durham Bus Services said she unofficially heard that bus drivers in DD2 have voted to accept an agreement on contracts.
Durham and the union have been in a dispute over pay and benefits for nearly 8 months.
