WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A second person has been charged in connection to the death of Kingstree girls' basketball coach Sonya Burgess who died in a hit-and-run wreck last month.
Kwandeesha J. Taylor was charged Monday morning with leaving the scene of the collision and failing to render aid.
Investigators arrested Daveline Leshon Holmes last month and charged her with reckless homicide and leaving the scene of a collision involving death.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol says Holmes left a convenience store on Highway 52 and failed to yield to a SUV driven by Burgess. According to authorities, Burgess was ejected from her SUV after the vehicle overturned.
Troopers say she was not wearing her seatbelt.
An incident report states Burgess was subsequently struck by another vehicle. Authorities say both vehicles involved in the incident left the scene.
Three children in Burgess' SUV were taken to the hospital.
