WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - An upcoming debate for Republican candidates vying for South Carolina's open congressional seat is going to be rescheduled.
It was originally scheduled for Mar. 14 at Porter-Gaud, five days before the primary election on Mar. 19.
The debate will now be held on Mar. 28. The GOP is having a news conference Tuesday morning at the school to give more details.
Officials at Porter-Gaud says the party wants to have it after the primary when the field of candidates is smaller.
Sixteen Republicans filed to run for the 1st Congressional District, making it one of the most crowded races in United States history.
