GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

A 24-year-old suspected drug dealer was arrested after deputies, investigating a suspicious smell outside a bar, found bags of heroin in a car.

The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office charged Anthony Brent Armstead with possession with intent to distribute heroin and simple possession of marijuana.

On Monday around 3:30 a.m., deputies saw a large crowd and detected an odor of marijuana at Browns Sugar Shack at Powell and Saints Delight roads.

An incident report states that as deputies conducted a foot patrol in the parking lot, they saw what appeared to be bags of heroin in a car.

According to investigators, deputies observed Armstead leaving the bar and unlocking the car.

Authorities say they found 12 bags of heroin totaling 1.2 grams as well as a marijuana blunt. Armstead was locked up at the Georgetown County Detention Center.
