The Dorchester County coroner has identified the victim and suspect from the murder-suicide incident in The Gables Mobile Home Park of North Charleston.
A 26-year-old man who authorities say shot and killed a 34-year-old woman before taking his own life Tuesday morning was released from jail last month for allegedly assaulting the woman earlier this year.

A number of Charleston County pedestrian safety projects have cleared the way for more schools to participate in the 2nd Annual South Carolina Walk to School Day on Wednesday, March 6.
South Carolina Walk to School Day is a statewide event that aims to increase physical activity among children, as well as teaching pedestrian safety. Students join their parents and teachers on the day of the event and walk to school from a nearby designated spot.
Several of the County's recent projects have focused on pedestrian and bicycle facilities which has enhanced access to many Charleston County schools.
The following schools have benefited from recent projects funded by the Transportation Sales Tax Program:
Dorchester Road sidewalk by Edmund A. Burns Elementary School in North Charleston
Fort Johnson Road sidewalk by James Island Charter High School on James Island
Rifle Range Road sidewalk by Sullivan's Island Elementary School, temporarily located on Rifle Range Road in Mount Pleasant
Carner Avenue sidewalk by Military Magnet Academy in North Charleston
Grimball Road sidewalk by James Island Elementary School on James Island
S. Antler Drive and Otranto Road sidewalk by Northwood Academy in North Charleston
Edwards Street sidewalk by Coastal Christian Preparatory School in Mount Pleasant
Charleston County Council typically allocates $500,000 annually from the Transportation Sales Tax Program to improve pedestrian and bicycle access for the community.
