NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - Authorities have released dash camera video footage of a car pursuit which ended when the driver crashed into a tree which caused a nearby power transformer to explode.
The Hanahan Police Department says the chase ended in the Park Circle neighborhood of North Charleston late Tuesday night.
Hanahan Police Lieutenant Michael Fowler said the suspect, Telvin McFadden, was charged with failure to stop for blue lights and driving under suspension. According to police, McFadden told officers he did not stop because he had drugs and a gun in the car.
Police said the chase started on North Rhett Avenue, when officers attempted to stop McFadden's white sedan for a traffic violation.
He then led authorities on a chase which ended after he crashed his car into a tree in the frontyard of someone's Park Circle home, police said.
The wreck knocked out power for several blocks near North Rhett and Braddock avenues.
Lieutenant Fowler said a passenger inside McFadden's car fled the scene and has not been located. No one was injured in the incident.
McFadden was granted a $12,000 bond for failing to stop for blue lights and a $652.50 bond for driving under suspension.
