WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department has arrested a 20-year-old Mount Pleasant man who allegedly took off with a car after telling the owner that he was interested in purchasing it.
Investigators charged Ricky Bradley Hilfrink on Wednesday with grand larceny.
On Friday afternoon, police responded to the Southcoast Community Bank on 1654 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard in reference to a stolen vehicle.
It all started when the victim said he was contacted by Hilfrink who inquired about his car that he had for sale.
Both then agreed to meet at the bank where Hilfrink said he would attempt to get a personal loan in order to buy the car.
A police report states that while both men were in the parking lot, Hilfrink asked to move the car so he could take a photo with his cellphone.
After a photo was taken, Hilfrink told the victim that he didn't like the picture and wanted to move the car again.
Police say Hilfrink then jumped into the car and took off from the bank.
Investigators say the bank was able to provide a picture of Hilfrink since he had entered the bank earlier and spoke to employees at the bank.
