CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office has cited a Mount Pleasant man in connection to a three vehicle accident on I-26 Friday morning.

Authorities charged Craig Rogers with driving too fast for conditions.

Sheriff's office spokesman Major Jim Brady said the wreck happened around 8:45 a.m. as a South Carolina Transport vehicle was escorting an oversized load onto I-26 from the Ravenel Bridge.

Brady said the transport officer was stopped on the interstate in an SUV with blue lights and a siren when the driver of a sedan slowed and was struck in the rear by a jeep driven by Rogers. The impact pushed the sedan into the transport officer's SUV.

The driver in the sedan was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries.

Two lanes of traffic were closed while the scene was investigated and cleared.  All lanes of traffic reopened at 10 a.m.
