JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - A man taken to the hospital after sideswiping two vehicles on Johns Island late Friday will face a number of charges, according to a Charleston County deputy.
The deputy said the incident started around 11 p.m., when the suspect was driving his car in the area of River Road and sideswiped a truck.
The suspect, who has not been identified, fled the scene but the truck driver followed him and called 911, the deputy said.
During a brief pursuit that followed, the suspect sideswiped another vehicle before crashing into a tree at River Road and Santa Elena Way, according to the deputy. The car caught fire.
The suspect was taken to the hospital for observation but is expected to fully recover shortly.
He is facing a number of charges.
