
Junior forward Matthew Hezekiah was named Second Team All-MEAC, while teammate freshman forward Darryl Palmer was named to the All-Rookie Team the league announced Sunday. All awards are voted on by the conference's head men's basketball coaches and sports information directors.
Norfolk State junior guard Pendarvis Williams was named the 2013 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Year as announced by the conference. Hampton's Deron Powers was selected as Rookie of the Year and North Carolina A&T State's Austin Witter garnered the Defensive Player of the Year honor. Norfolk State Head Coach Anthony Evans was named the MEAC Coach of the Year.
Hezekiah averaged 13.0 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per game, 1.3 blocks per game, 56.0 FG%, 68.9 FT%, 5 double-doubles and earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors (11/19).
Palmer averaged 8.6 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, 39 blocks, 1.6 blocks per game, while earning MEAC Rookie of the Week honors twice this season (11/12, 2/18)
]The 2013 regular season champion, regular-season runners-up, first-team members and top honorees including Player, Rookie, Defensive and Coach of the Year selections, will be recognized in pre-game presentations prior to their first games of the 2013 MEAC Basketball Tournament. Tournament play tips-off March 11-16 at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.
