COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is introducing former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney at a meeting of conservatives in Washington.
Haley spokesman Rob Godfrey said Romney asked the governor if she would introduce him at the Conservative Political Action Conference meeting in Washington on Friday. Godfrey said Haley wasn't planning to attend CPAC before Romney issued the invitation.
The former Massachusetts governor is scheduled to speak at 1 p.m. He has been in seclusion for the last four months at his southern California home following his election loss last November to President Barack Obama. Only recently has Romney surfaced in the national media.
Haley supported Romney early on in his presidential campaign, stumping for him in battleground states.
