NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston Fire Department was called out to a blaze at a cemetery off Dorchester Road Saturday afternoon.

The fire occurred around 4 p.m. next to the New Zion RMUE Church.

It is unclear how this fire got started. Firefighters around the Lowcountry are responding to many brush fires.

Authorities are also putting out a brush fire in the 1100 block of Trojan Road.

Live 5 News crews say flames and smoke could be seen in the area located next to the Village Park RV Camp Ground.

The South Carolina Forestry Commission say there have been 36 active fires statewide Saturday. Forestry officials say a red flag weather alert will remain in effect until lifted by state fire management staff.
