Forward Robby Dee scored two goals to help the South Carolina Stingrays (35-25-4-3) topple the Florida Everblades (33-21-4-7) 4-2 at Germain Arena Saturday evening.
Dee opened the scoring with a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 5:10 of the first period tapping a pass from forward Peter Boyd past the left arm of Everblades goaltender Pat Nagle (L, 22 saves on 25 shots) off the right post. Defenseman Luka Vidmar added the second assist. With 10 seconds remaining in the frame, Dee blasted a shot from between the faceoff circles under the pads of Nagle for his 16 tally of the season. Defenseman Kevin Quick netted the lone assist.
The Everblades responded with two goals in the second period to tie the contest moving into the second intermission. Defenseman Charles Landry pulled the game within one with a power-play marker at the 1:16 mark beating Stingrays goaltender Ryan Zapolski (W, 25 saves on 27 shots) from the right-wing point. Defenseman Tyson Gimblett knotted the game up at 6:35 with his fifth goal of the season.
Boyd buried his first goal as a Stingray and eventual game-winning tally on the man advantage at 10:27 of the third period knocking a rebound past the left pad of Nagle. Forward Tyler Johnson and defenseman Ryan McGinnis assisted on Boyd's 19 goal of the campaign. Quick sealed the victory with an unassisted empty-net goal at 18:56. The Stingrays finished the game 2-for-3 on the power play while the Everblades went 1-for-4.
